Amazing Hazel An Adoptable Cairn Terrier

You must meet Hazel, who currently resides at a foster home in Vermont.  Her story is a sad one, but is getting better as we speak. Hazel and her  “birthmother “, another Cairn who is now being called Nana, lived for their entire lives with a wonderful loving woman. When she recently realized that she could no longer care for the “Girls”, she got in touch with Col. Potter Cairn Rescue. Hazel and Nana have been adjusting well to their Vermont surroundings.

I'm much cuter than this picture. Go to Col. Potter website below to see!

Hazel is very loving, and adores snuggling with her person. Recently she climbed up  on a couch and draped herself around the the shoulders of an admirer. Although 12 years old, she is extremely active, and quite the consummate hunter. Vermont chipmunks have been in peril. Probably she would do best in a home without cats (or chipmunk-like pets).  She eats well and rarely  barks, and most of all, loves snuggling with her person.

Her birthmother, Nana, is ill, and Hazel has been somewhat dependent on her for feeling secure in some instances. Apparently thunder is not her favorite thing, and she runs to Nana for comfort. The thinking is that she would do well in a home with another female “motherly” kind of dog, since Nana can’t be adopted out due to complications regarding her illness.

I look a little funny here. Really, go to Col. Potter Cairn Rescue site!!!

Please go to the Col.Potter website to read more about her. They are a terrific rescue group, and will transport to other areas , so you don’t have to be in Vermont to adopt their pups.  Once at the site, why not fill out an application form!

So sad when dogs suddenly have to find a new home because they can no longer be cared for. It could happen to any of us I guess. Hope things go well.

Yes, it is sad. I have someone appointed as their guardian, should anything happen to me. I have a life insurance policy that is designated in my will to go to that guardian to be used to care for the dogs. As far as Hazel, she is in an amazing, loving foster home through the 12 star Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Group.

She is very content and secure in her foster home with Nana. They both have a wonderful foster Mom, who loves them both very much.
