Sepia Saturday: Honoring Allie and Lucky

Sepia Saturday: Honoring Allie and Lucky

Every time I glance at this photo of Allie and Lucky, taken many years ago, I think of them as gods. Sadly, I display it here in a sub-standard way.  With my android, I took a picture of the picture, through the glass. I wish you could  come into my home and see it shining on the wall. This was before digital cameras. Jim Dratfield came in with lights and a backdrop and even an assistant.

Lucky the greyhound naturally posed as if he had been born to it. Allie responded to treats, but seemed to enjoy the attention. At one point Jim said to her…”Allie…its all about you!” Urging her on to more and more interesting poses. The photo I’ve used the most is one where she is perched on my shoulder. (See my Psychotherapy website).

This is hard to write. I lost Lucky in 2007 and Allie in 2011. Although I walk without them, when I feel their presence, it  grips me with melancholy.
