Matilda had her chemo (for Lymphoma) today. (Vincristine). It is her second to last treatment. She is in remission. She ate her dinner tonight, and had treats. She got a good report from her doctor. Her blood work is fine, and there is no sign of the Lymphoma. She has been panting a lot, but has now settled down.
I hear that she spends her day at the hospital with her Golden Retriever friend Coby, curled up on a large dog bed with him. (Before and after their treatment).
In this picture she is actually chewing on her chew treat.
It is very hard to go through this with your dog. You question if it is the right thing, but you feel that it is. You have this talk with yourself. How to know if she is suffering…..? Right now she is begging for more treats, so I have a feeling she is feeling OK!
There is no way to know for sure, but she has had a nice life all these months, sniffing her favorite grasses and now flowers, dreaming of flying in the clouds and eating hamburgers. Cuddling with her siblings and her chemo buddy and me.
I am so happy to hear Matilda’s good report . . . and I am so happy that Matilda has Coby and Coby has Matilda. That is so sweet.
Yes, isn’t it lovely. I would love for them to be able to continue their friendship after her chemo has been completed.
I can only imagine what it is like having a dog go through chemo. Thankfully it hasn’t happened to me yet. I hope Matilda keeps smiling through it and helps you to stay strong for her. Great that she has made a friend in Coby
