Greetings Thursday-ites. Good grief, its almost Friday. Hopefully we will finish this before midnight! Aren’t we the silly ones!
Some of you may have guessed who the mystery dog on yesterday’s post was. Yes! Livvie and Kessie are getting a new sister. Her name is Twinkle Toes. (More information on Saturday. Twinkle Toes is being adopted from Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network, but she is not a Cairn).
We feel that Matilda is looking down on us and smiling. Maybe as our dog mythology tells us, Matilda “sent” Twinkle to us. It’s a wonderful feeling to think that our worlds could work this way. We would adore feeling that this is “meant to be.”
Mostly, I feel hopeful and of course, anxious. How will we bring little Twinkle Toes in so that she integrates organically into the household? Certainly, I’ve had experience doing this many times. The most recent time was about a year and a half ago when Kessie came. We faced the obstacle of his fear of large dogs. Matilda was more like a unicorn though.
I doggedly choreographed the introductions, and it worked perfectly. Now I face a different combination of personalities. Since Matilda’s death, there isn’t a steady, calm, reliable dog in the household. Liv and Kes are zesty, spicy, passionate loves. Calm and steady they are not!
Again, I have a plan, but am not as confident. Will Livvie give Twinkle Toes the hairy eyeball? It makes me miss Matilda even more.
I return to my original sense of recognition when I first noticed Twinkle. She has a little wise face, and in her eyes I saw Matilda.
I’m taking a breath, and trusting that we will feel Matilda’s magical presence as we greet little Twinkle Toes and promise to love her forever.

We thought we would, but I have been too heart-broken, and am unable to lift such a large dog!

This is the most beautiful tribute of all that you are doing for Matilda. This precious baby will be a wonderful addition to your family. Thank you so much for adopting from Col. Potter. All of our dogs are very much loved by homes that foster until they find their forever homes.
Yes, I see that!
What a beautiful pup Twinkle is! Gettinga new pup to love and spoil and care for is the best way to honor Matilda’s precious memory. im sure Matilda would more then approve!

Thank you for saying this! You are very right! Little Twinkle is making everyone twinkle!
That’s awesome! Congratulations. We figured if there was a new pup it would be a greyhound, so this is a surprise.
Yes, mom realized that she could no longer lift a big dog. She said that you can’t adopt a dog you cannot lift!
Livvie

Congratulations, Terry, Livvie, and Kessie! I am so excited for you! I do feel Twinkle was meant to be yours. Can’t wait to see her on the blog and join in on your adventures!
Hi Erin! Yayyyy.Thanks!!!!
I am confident that Twinkle will be fine with your guys…evil eyes or hairy eyeballs won’t bother her. She has met many (and I mean MANY) foster siblings over the past 8 months and gets along fine with everyone. See you Sat!
Thanks Barbara! She was so lucky to be with you for her puppyhood. See you Saturday!
Terry
I’m so, so, happy you rescued this little Cairn mix darling! I fell in love with her when I first saw her posting on Col. Potter’s page. I would have loved to have her, but, at the time I still had my old 16 years old Cairn, Bijoux, who sadly passed away a few weeks ago. Like you, I was nervous about introducing a puppy into the household with an ailing oldster. Things work out the way they are supposed to and your Matilda had special plans for you and yours. Good luck..and PLEASE post often so we can see Twinkle Toes happy, new, life!
Thanks you for writing, Paula. I am so sorry for the loss of Bijoux. I will post Twinkle often on this blog, and on the Cairn blog as well. Feel free to e-mail me any time. Maybe you could even visit. cramercare at gee mail dot com

Love, your human twinnie. Maybe she’ll bring twinkling toes toes to everyone
Thanks Twinnie. I hope we all do become more Twinkle toey!
Twinkle Toes looks like a sweet dog! I wonder if she’ll get up to mischief with Livvie and Kessie, or if she’ll be a “little mother” and keep them in line. I wonder if she’ll go on Sepia Saturday adventures. Will she come to visit me on MomGoth’s blog? How big is she? Is she as big as I am? Listen to me! I’m so excited to make a new puppy friend!
Hi there. Well, I think she’ll be mischievous. She’s still a pup! For sure she’ll be joining Sepia Saturday! After all, she’s arriving on Sepia Saturday! She will definitely visit you Sweetie Pie! She weighs 13 lbs. Are you bigger? I’ m sure she will be excited to meet you and be your very own pup frrind!
Congrats on your new addition! Just read Matilda’s story, what a special girl she was. You gave her a beautiful life. I’m sure she had a hand in sending adorable Twinkle Toe’s to you, you’ll do great integrating Twinkle, I’m sure!

Thanks, update in the making
If Matilda sent her, it’s going to be just fine. I was dogless for a year after my last Cairn died. Aparently, my gang at the Bridge spent the year looking for the dog THEY thought needed me and they picked a little girl who had been abandoned and left in an apartment with four 2-day old puppies. Landlord took her to a good shelter and when her puppies were 12 weeks old, they moved on and she was posted on PetFincers. Well some of my friends all sent me this posting and thought I ought to go look. The shelter lady was NOT enthusiastic since she thought she was too terrified to be adopted. We were standing in a circle when after 5 mins she pushed out of the volunteer’s arms and into mine. That settled the question. then 18 months later someone abandoned a little Russell/Schnauzer cross at our apartments and after his trying out a number of residents… he kept escaping…. until the last person who had him knocked on my door and said..’you still want him?’… so nearly 4 months later he’s HOME…and I firmly believe that my Rainbow Bridge gang told him to get to me….(look, guys up there… no more, we’re at limit) at the moment the ‘grey boy’ is curled on my feet.
Do our Bridge kids pick out the next ones? I believe they do.
I love this!!!! Thank you so much!
That is a very good tip especially to those fresh to the blogosphere.
