Please consider adopting Dochas (nickname Doc), a charming Cairn who was rescued by Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network. He was an owner surrender to a shelter, and is eight years old. Doc is being fostered in Dallas, Texas. If you are interested in him, Col. Potter will help you problem-solve about how to get him to your home. Why not read his profile on the Col. Potter Available Cairns page, and fill out an adoption application while you are there!
Besides being utterly adorable, Doc loves his foster mom, and is “Velcro guy” with her. She says that he loves “tv time” and sitting in your lap. He already knows “sit,” and is working on “look at me.” Doc is also now getting out and about for new experiences.
Foster mom has been working with little Doc on his social skills. Doc knows how to be social generally, for instance, jumping up on the couch, getting kisses, and repeat! Doc knows the important things. He is potty-trained, and is a good leash-walker. She feels that he needs some obedience school and needs to learn how to be more cordial with other dogs, since he is sometimes somewhat unsure about some dogs.
When Doc came into his foster home, he was scared, and couldn’t see very well. Even though he was frightened, he loved his foster mom right away. He came into his foster home with a severe eye ulcer and only had sight in one eye. He has been seen by a veterinary eye specialist, and was diagnosed with dry eye, probably worsened by environmental allergies. He is on eye drops and they have made a big difference. They will need to be be ongoing, and luckily, they are inexpensive.
Here is his “movie”.
Doc is still fearful in new situations and around some dogs. He will need a terrier-savvy family to follow through with obedience or training sessions to strategize about ways for him to cope better. Probably a fairly quiet home would be good for him (without chaos or cats). He will then be able to learn about the world of his Forever Family. He has been learning about letting go of his resource-guarding and will be having some training lessons with one of his foster brothers who has some similar issues.
This is a special boy, who will give you a lot of love, and make you feel very good. In return, you will help him with his training!
We are joining Tuesday’s Tails Blog Hop hosted by Dogs N Pawz. We thank them for hosting. Feel free to post any companion animal who needs a forever home!
