Adopt Leon and Bradley, Cairn Brothers with Personality

Please consider adopting Leon and Bradley, two Cairn brothers from Col. Potter Cairn Rescue!

I'm Leon. I love to play!

I’m Leon. I love to cuddle!

Oh my gosh! I would definitely have about ten dogs right now if my building didn’t have a limit. Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network is amazing. Through the social networking world, they became aware of these two Cairn brothers who had been surrendered to a shelter. The boys were heart worm positive, usually a death sentence for shelter dogs.  You can read about it in their Intake Story.

They dodged this bullet, and were whisked away to Connecticut to their loving foster home. Col. Potter made sure that they got the full, proper treatment for heart worm  and that they were taken care of by their foster parents for the duration of the  treatment, which can be quite rough. During part of it, for several months they had to be kept quite inactive. This is no easy feat for two Cairns, aged 2-ish and 3-ish.

I'm Bradley. I love to cuddle!

I’m Bradley. I love to play!

So, here they are. They are now heart worm-free  healthy young Cairns,  and as happy as can be. They’re ready for their new forever home. Yes, there are two of them, but what better way to ease your mind when you leave the house to go to work or to the store. You know that they are happy in each others’ presence.

Their foster mom says that they are cheery and upbeat and that everyone who meets them  loves them. They like toys and adore walk-time.  Bradley, who is 2-ish is super intelligent and precious. Although not quite as cuddly as Leon, he jumps right in and gets involved if Leon is getting attention.  He is prey-driven and will chase the cat, if given the chance.  He can get pretty excited, but he’s good when told to stop and be calm. He even knows a few tricks.  At times, he can be a tiny bit skittish as though he might be anticipating punishment. (Perhaps there was some harsh training in his previous home). His foster home is using only positive methods of training, so that he will learn that hands and objects are not things to be frightened of.  At most other times, his tale is wagging! He is now using the doggy door, and loves exploring the yard. He’s learning to come in when called. He is a quick study and trains quite easily.  You can see his profile and fill out an adoption application for him and Leon by clicking here.

Leon , who is 3-ish, is a doll, according to his doting foster mom.  He’s outgoing, friendly and affectionate. He seeks belly rubs and snuggles every night. He loves treats and to chew on naturally shed elk antlers. He is somewhat low-key, and a bit of a momma’s boy. He loves car rides, is so cheerful, and is always wagging his tail. See Leon’s profile here.

It's Leon again! Did you recognize me?

Foster mom says that both boys are gaining in endurance and strength, and can walk about a mile and a half now. They are working on training, and can do “sits” and “sit-pretties”. They are house-trained. The two are close, and it seems right for them to be adopted together. They are happiest when together. Bradley looks to Leon for guidance, and Leon is a good leader. They are currently living with several other Cairns in their foster home.

Guess who! Bradley!!!

Guess who! Bradley!!!

These two love-bugs can’t get enough attention. They are very snuggly. They listen pretty well for Cairns. When told to go to their beds at at night, they go right  up the stairs and into their crates and sit nicely until they’re closed in securely. They are relatively quiet while crated.

Foster mom reports that all the people who worked with Bradley and Leon to get them to the foster home (including the people who pulled them from the shelter, the transport people who got them to their foster home, the Col. Potter volunteer who kept them for a few days until their transport could be arranged) thought they were the nicest, sweetest dogs they had met in a long time. Although she concedes that they could benefit from some obedience training, (what dog couldn’t?), she says that she’s rarely seen Cairns in foster care with so few issues. These boys are fantastic! She adds,”since Bradley and Leon are so close, I’d like to see them adopted to the same home. These two boys will make someone’s life complete. They are a dream to foster. I’ve rarely met nicer dogs!”

Woof! Woof! Woof! I'm Leon!

Woof! Woof! Woof! I’m Leon! Am I not the cutest?
