The lace of trees frees me! We are participating in the #Share Gratitude Blog Hop. When I saw what Cascadian Nomads, Oz the Terrier, Loved By A Collie & Kitty Cat Chronicles had created, I felt optimistic. What better way to spend time blogging than to express gratitude. Not only do all the Positive Psychology mavens tout this as a measurable way to decrease depression, but religions too seem to have a sense of this. As I set foot outside, the sky was a dismal grey. My heart sank as the wind rose. I suddenly remembered to glance up.
I could almost feel the tickle on my hands as I stood perfectly still and embraced the intricate patterns. My mood was lifted as I thanked the trees for always having something profound to offer anyone who seeks.
Before I learned to acknowledge the stark beauty of what Sylvia Plath called the “winter trees”, I used to mourn the loss of their leaves. In autumn, the trees abandoned me. One winter I changed my mind after an ice storm. The barrage was fierce, but the surprise of the branches sparkling under the moon awakened me.
But I can’t leave the Tree Trunk Face out. I laughed, not only because of the pixie-ish face I saw in it. I am thankful that I have that ability to see these things this way. I thanked he sacred realms, if there are any for endowing me with creativity and whimsy. I allowed myself to acknowledge this, in gratitude.
And I thank the hosts and am thankful for the hosts of this Blog Hop, and for this blogging community! As always, I am thankful for my dogs, both living now, and those in the nether realms.
