Meet Frodo. He fell upon bad fortune sometime in October of 2013. His person was reaching a place where she could no longer take care of him, and surrendered him to a shelter. She had very little knowledge about the world she was introducing him to. Luckily, she told a friend, who took action. You can read more about this on his Intake Story page HERE.
The poor boy had a thyroid issue that has since been remedied with daily medicine, twice a day. He takes his pills easily with food, and his energy level is terrific. He loves playing outside, and walks. His coat is getting thicker. It turns out that he is very loving, and enjoys a good conversation, especially when he is getting petted and “scritched.”
Frodo has even out-smarted his foster mom, who taught him to “trade” a treat for whatever contraband item he might have in his mouth. Apparently, he will bring in little rocks from outside and chew on them, thus earning a treat. Now he just brings the rock over and chews it and looks up at her!!!
It should be noted that Frodo is doing well, is friendly and loving, but has gone through a lot. His foster mom stresses that he must be dealt with only with positive training. He learns quickly and is quite compliant. Forceful handling or training will bring resistance and growling, possibly accompanied by snapping. She emphasizes, however, what a great guy he is, and how attached to him she has become. He is ten years old, and is being fostered in Washington State. Col. Potter Cairn Rescue will transport him to you. They are amazing that way. I recommend this little guy highly. Give him a second chance please! Why not go to see his profile by clicking HERE. You can also fill out an adoption application while you are there!
