{This Moment} See Beautiful: Two Beauties in Colorado

{This Moment} See Beautiful is a  Blog Hop that I discovered through Sugar the Golden Retriever, who hosts it.  {This Moment} See Beautiful happens every second Friday of the month. It invites you to create a blog post that shows how something in your day/week/month/moment was an inspiration to find beauty in a unique, profound way. The concept was created by See Beautiful. We thank Sugar for hosting and Lydia for the original concept and project.

Today I saw mountains and flowers that took my breath away.

These flowers and mountains made me pause.

Today I took a trip up into the mountains, and went from 6,035 feet above sea level to over 11,000 feet above sea level. The air is thin, clear, and the sun bright. Legs feel heavy as you walk.  In this beautiful ski resort town, you can see sights like this:

Breckenridge, Colorado is a visual treat.

No story about beauty is complete without animals. While my companions and I sat by the rushing water, we noticed a woman with a little brown dog. It wasn’t long before we were chatting with Courtney and playing with Apache.

My companions and I struck up a conversation with Courtney.

Courtney spent her summer in Colorado, and two weeks ago, went to the Frisco, Colorado Animal Control and Shelter. It was then that she discovered Apache, and set the adoption in motion. It was one of those stories we hear or have experienced ourselves. The pup chose Courtney, rolling into her arms where she was held  like a baby.

Apache had a sense that Courtney should be her person.

It was lucky that Apache ended up at the Frisco Shelter. (see link above). On their website they explain that they are fortunate because the community supports its Animal Control and Shelter, and takes pet responsibility seriously. Because the surrounding community has been able to spay and neuter in good numbers, their shelter has been able to avoid the massive euthanasia numbers. The only reason they euthanize  is for severe health or behavioral issues. Courtney explained to us that the shelter has the space to able to take some dogs from shelters from some New Mexico Indian Reservations.

Courtney didn’t have the specifics of Apache’s original location. She only knew that she was wandering on a reservation in New Mexico.  I grew curious and found this amazing group: Colorado Animal Rescue Express: Transporting Rescue Animals To Safety. (C.A.R.E.).  One of the many things I read about was that in late February they donated funds to help control the pet overpopulation crisis on a New Mexico Navajo Reservation. If you go to their site, you will see the many projects they have been involved in. It just about knocked me over. Who knows if that was the group that enabled little Apache to travel to the terrific shelter in Frisco, Colorado and find her forever home with Courtney.

I call that beauty.
